About AO Metal
Metal printing for the people who develop the materials.
AO Metal is the line of laser powder bed fusion printers designed and built by Additive Plus in Gardena, California. We made it for researchers, educators, engineering teams and jewellers who needed real LPBF in their own lab, with every process setting open to them.
Why we built it
A gap between factory machines and the lab.
Industrial LPBF systems are built for production floors: large, expensive and often closed to the people who want to change how they work. Labs and development teams need something else: a machine that fits an ordinary room, runs a trial on grams of powder, and lets them set the laser, the scan strategy and the temperature themselves.
AO Metal is our answer. Three printers share one software and one way of working, from the benchtop A30 to the A100 with a Ø100 mm plate. The A50 and A100 add an optional blue laser for copper and precious metals and a build plate that can run at 900 °C. With the ATO Lab atomizer and the Camsizer X2 analyzer, a lab can make, measure and print its own alloys.
